Maru was born on the 29th of January in 1983. Until 9th class she studied in The Old Town School and after that the Tallinn Kopli Art School. Years 2001 to 2005 she studied textile art in Tartu Art College and graduated with an fashion performance in Sadama Theater. She pulled her models up in the 6 meter high ceiling and the 7 models were wearing all-together more than 40 kg of knitted collection.

She has taken part of the Annual Estonian fashion contest SuperNoova and prized with 3rd and 4th places two years in a row. Maru has taken part of many bigger and smaller fashion shows and expos (included the Habitus Baltija fashion contest in Riga 2005 and awarded by the juries special award for the collection “Fantastic Bubble”).

Her diploma work was been invited to the Mandi Lennard Publicity Room for the 2005 London Fashion Week event “Fashion constructivism” together with

Karen Walker and Eley Kishimoto.

She has styled Estonian woman magazine such as Stiil and Eesti Naine.

From autumn 2005 Maru has been the cooking editor of woman's internet

magazine Femme.ee, from 2007 January until 2009 August the cooking editor of Estonian largest woman magazines Eesti Naine and from 2008 co-worker of cooking magazine Oma Maitse.

Her last bigger project was her own cookbook “Maru maitsev maailm. Aasta helelillas köögis” (“Maru’s delicious world. A year in a lilac kitchen.”)


Her knitwear can be spotted walking around in the streets of UK, Norway, Finland, Japan, The Netherlands, Denmark, Canada, USA,

Latvia, Italy, Russia, Germany, France and of course Estonia.
